Battle for the Commonwealth: UMass Invitational

UMass hosted their spring invitational this weekend, one day post-Blarney activities. Our swimmers rallied through their Blarney illnesses to compete in their last meet before Nationals at Ohio State at the end of March. Due to schedule conflicts with other schools' Saint Patrick's Day pursuits and spring breaks, the meet became a dual competition with UMass Lowell.

Swimmers enjoyed a long morning getting to the pool as the meet started at 1 PM. This was the first meet for all of our new members from the spring season's tryout session. Saint-Patrick's-Day-themed rubber ducks were given to every heat winner after their races to further the motivations of swimmers. Furthermore, two buckets of UMCS goodies were given out to spectators who participated in our raffle which raised money for the team. UMCS thanks all officials and timers who helped keep the meet running. Meet results are in a PDF below. The meet was over in an hour and a half, allowing swimmers to spend the rest of the weekend recovering from their hard-fought mental and physical battles.

Although many members fell victim to Blarney-scaries, we are proud of the swimmers who stayed strong and competed after the holiday activities.
