UMCS Takes on Upstate New York
This past weekend, 12 UMCS-ers piled into a van and headed off toward Hamilton, New York.
After less than a week back on campus, our swimmers left Amherst on Saturday morning to compete in the Colgate Invitational Club Swim meet against Colgate University, Ithaca College, Syracuse University, and Binghamton University.
After a strong team cheer, an inspirational speech from Coach Jane, and our very own secretary throwing up, all 12 swimmers had incredible races. Bel Corder, Austin Lee, and Tatum Angerthal stood out, with times qualifying them for the 2024 College Club Swimming Nationals in April.
Lee raced below the national cut time in his 50 Breaststroke
Angerthal raced below the national cut time in her 100 Individual Medley.
Corder raced below the national cut times in her 50, 100, and 200 Backstroke.
After the meet, our swimmers drove to Albany, NY where they went out for dinner and spent the night before returning to the familiar UMass campus Sunday morning.
